Beginners
If you are interested in starting archery as a sport, we will have group beginner lessons on Saturdays. The cost per person (must be 10yrs or older) in 2022 is R250.00 for the first time and R220.00 for any following sessions. This includes equipment hire and range fees and a 90 minute lesson under the guidance of qualified archery instructors.
Please note: We are presently a CASH ONLY setup.
What you need to do to book a slot for a Saturday session
- Email us at proteaarchery@gmail.com and we will send you a form.
- We require that you complete and return the form by close of business the Thursday (5pm) before the Saturday session
What you need to do on the day
- It is essential to arrive before 12h00 for signing in and for us to issue suitable equipment. This is particularly important for first timers as lessons start promptly at 12.30pm. Unfortunately, we cannot accept late-comers after that.
- Please bring cash
- Wear closed shoes and bring a sun hat, sun cream, water (or non-alcoholic beverage of your choice ) and a sense of humour

Schools
We give guidance to schools interested in offering an unusual sport, which not only builds upper body strength, but also teaches concentration and a high degree of self discipline.
Veterans
Protea has a special Golden Oldies section for veterans – we meet every Friday morning for tea, chat and flying arrows. Protea specialises in training paraplegics in archery – this is the one sport where wheelchair athletes can compete on equal terms with walkers. We will give you good unbiased guidance on buying the most suitable equipment at the best price.
